Beyond the Horizon

While I’m here in Africa I was thinking a lot lately about the world and its imbalance. How can some countries be so undeveloped, if they all have the excess to everything nowadays. When I talk to people of my generation, I don’t feel any differences in their point of view about environmental, educational, nor political issues. We all think the same and we’re longing for the same changes in this world, but something is holding back the breakthrough. I believe that our generation is rich of freedom and opportunities, like no generation before. The excess that internet brought to us is immense. We have the ability to look beyond the horizon and still changes are made so little.

Seitdem ich in Afrika bin, denke ich viel über das Ungleichgewicht in der Welt nach. Wie ist es möglich, dass manche Länder so unterentwickelt sind, obwohl heutzutage der Zugang zu allem vorhanden ist. Wenn ich hier mit Gleichaltrigen spreche, stelle ich keine großen Unterschiede ihrer Sichtweisen zum Thema Umwelt, Bildung und Politik fest. Wir denken alle gleich und sehnen uns nach Veränderung in der Welt und trotzdem bleibt der Durchbruch zur Veränderung aus. Ich glaube, dass unsere Generation die größte Freiheit und Möglichkeit besitzt, wie keine andere Generation je zuvor. Der Zugang zur Welt, welcher uns das Internet gebracht hat, ist immens. Wir haben die Fähigkeit über den Horizont hinaus zu schauen und trotzdem sind nur kleine Schritte Richtung Fortschritt und Veränderung sichtbar.
